The government has announced that the property market will remain open during the January/February lockdown throughout England.
People looking to move home will be able to both continue with planned moves and view new properties to move into in the future. Removal firms will be able to enter homes for the purposes of removing or delivering household items, and tradespeople will be allowed to operate inside homes. However, while lockdown rules are enforced people outside support bubbles should not help with moving property unless it is absolutely necessary.
A support bubble is a support network which links two households. You can form a support bubble with another household of any size only if you meet the eligibility rules.
Moving home during lockdown
- You can still move home. People outside your household or support bubble should not help with moving house unless absolutely necessary.
- Estate and letting agents and removals firms can continue to work.
- If you are looking to move, you can go to property viewings. Follow the national guidance on moving home safely, which includes advice on social distancing, letting fresh air in, and wearing a face covering.
